Sunday Spotlight: Keri Dennison

This week we check in with a 4:30pm regular, Keri Dennison! — Crossfitting since: August 2016. — A little about yourself: I am that really tall tattooed chick in the gym hanging around Roger (but very friendly, I swear). I am 26 years old, originally from Kenosha, WI, with a twin brother, and a Biology degree. Professionally, I run a Plasma Center in the inner city of Milwaukee and moved out here last year for work. — How did you get into CrossFit? For a while I lifted and struggled to add cardio into my workouts. I decided to do a free intro class at a CrossFit gym in Kenosha. As my old gym used to make fun of CrossFit, I wasn’t sure what to expect. For the short and sweet, I went and realized I couldn’t even do a pull-up… Looking around, I saw people who came everyday and were so health oriented, I wanted to be one of these elite humans. In addition, due to my highly competitive nature… I was instantly hooked and obsessed with this type of fitness. ? — How has CrossFit changed you outside the gym? I was very big into the bar scene as a young lass and I quickly found out that those kind of habits make you feel like DEATH in a CrossFit WOD. (Just try "The Seven" hung-over, I dare you). But in all seriousness, it gave me a new level of self identify, worth, and it was a really great outlet for the mind. — What makes Badger CrossFit unique? My old gym had a really amazing community and that was what I was really looking for when I moved to Milwaukee. I had tried many gyms in the area and many were great but lacked in either location, community, or competitive nature. When I came to Badger it had all those things. Number one though is the people here. They are hardworking, kick ass, people who come each day to better themselves and truly care about each other. I have been to funerals, wedding, baby showers etc. with this community and they become your people. I even found my better half at Badger. ☺️ — Advice for people just getting started: Just go. You don’t have to have any fitness background, just a drive. Stick with it whether you are sore, not feeling it, or having a bad day. Go. And I promise you, you will see results…
