This week we check in with a Noon/4:30pm member, Jen Sholtes! — CrossFitting since: April 2016, BCF since July/August 2016. — A little about yourself: I'm in my 4th year of teaching, which is my second career. I'm also a recent foster parent (by the way I'd love to talk to anyone interested in knowing more about being a foster parent! It's hard but worth it–just like CrossFit! — How did you get into CrossFit? I saw a random ad on Facebook about a 6 week challenge at CrossFit 100 and decided to sign up, even though I never thought I'd do something like CrossFit. I wasn't even sure if it was legit. It was, and 6 weeks later I felt amazing, had lost some weight and inches and was excited to keep going with CrossFit. — How has CrossFit changed you outside the gym? I feel great! I used to just feel "bleh" and used that as an excuse to be lazy and not take care of myself. Now I'm more educated about how to take care of my body and have so much more energy and confidence in every day life. — What makes Badger CrossFit unique? BCF is always reflecting and trying to improve the experience and fitness of it's members. In my two years they've added changing rooms, a kids area, new bikes, sandbags, ski erg, and more! — Advice for people just getting started: Track your progress. In my 6 week challenge we did a benchmark workout at the beginning and end. In the 6 weeks I had lost some weight and some inches, but when I saw that I went from completing only 2 1/2 rounds week one to 7 rounds week 6 I was amazed. I realized how much stronger and more fit I had become.
