This week we check in with a 530pm regular, Brad Delanty! — Crossfitting since: May '17. — A little about yourself: I grew up in the small farming town of Hilbert (NE WI). Currently live in east Tosa with my wife and our 4 rescued fur children. I'd have more dogs if my wife didn't keep me in check. Professionally, I've worked in the data & analytics space for the past 10 years and am currently a Product Manager for Johnson Controls. I love all things outdoors whether its hunting, fishing, hiking, biking in any season. Recently, I've gotten into beekeeping and the urban agriculture scene. I currently run 9 hives and have a large garden that occupy most of my free time. I'm hoping to continue to scale those hobbies from side hustles into a sustainable business over time. — How did you get into CrossFit? I have been in the endurance sports space and belonged to the regular gyms since college. I started getting bored & frustrated chasing the clock as I hit my 30's. Couple a poor attitude with some injuries and my fitness was regressing in '16 & early '17. I had read about CrossFit for a few years and finally was willing to try something different. Thankfully Badger is only 1.8 miles from my house. — How has CrossFit changed you outside the gym? I deal with large scale projects & aggressive timelines so I need a positive stress outlet. My attitude is always in a better space after an intense workout with loud music. All my general health metrics have improved this past year. I have another circle of friends that I wouldn't have otherwise met. My running has dramatically improved this year as I've gotten stronger. I've been able to set new PR's in the half and 15k in the past couple months. The best part is I've been able to stay injury free since I started. — What makes Badger CrossFit unique? The facilities & equipment are great, those investments are substantially above most of the other places I've dropped in to work out at. The coaches have always been helpful & knowledgeable whenever I have a question. The Thursday playlist and barbell warm-up routine are personal favorites. The community garden is a great feature.
