This week we check in with one of our dedicated mommas, Allison Mohorek! — Crossfitting since: July 2016 — A little about yourself: I was born and raised in the Milwaukee area, went to Marquette, married my high school sweetheart right out of college, and moved to Tosa as my husband attended MCW for medical school. We've added to the family with our daughter, Jane, now 9 months old and our goldendoodle, Wesley, almost 2! If you've seen me at the gym in the past 9 months you've surely seen Jane too. As my husband is now a resident at MCW, his schedule is busy and often unpredictable so the best way for me to get to the gym is bringing my girl with. I'm a physician assistant, I work in orthopedic surgery at the Aurora Medical Center in Summit (Oconomowoc). I enjoy my job, but since Jane joined us I now call myself a part-time stay at home mom, working two days a week and I love my days home!! Outside of the gym, I love sports, always have, and I pride myself on knowing more about sports than most guys. I fit in great with orthopedic surgeons! I specifically love Marquette basketball, we are season ticket holders and very rarely miss a game. — How did you get into CrossFit? I actually was trying to get my husband into a more regular workout regimen and threw the idea of trying CrossFit at him. We did function together for about a month and I loved it. Unfortunately I haven't gotten him to stick with it (yet, still trying), but here I am! I found out I was pregnant soon after transitioning to CrossFit, but with the awesome guidance of the BCF coaches, I continued CrossFitting until two days before Jane was born and completed the last week of the open at 36 weeks pregnant…she was born less than two weeks later. — How has crossfit changed you? I think I've made fitness more of a priority in my life. It would have been very easy to not get back into working out after having a baby, the time and energy isn't always there, but coming to BCF is fun and social so I think that really helps! — What makes BCF unique? I love the family-friendly atmosphere.
