Hometown: Green Bay

Age: 40

Favorite WOD or movement: I don’t really have a favorite…..I like the variety. I’m good at burpees but that doesn’t mean I like them….. I like any WOD that I can do RX! Makes me feel strong! 🙂

Least favorite WOD or movement: Toes to Bar!!!! I am determined to get it one of these days!

What is your fitness background? What were you doing before CrossFit? I’ve been doing triathlons for 7 years, running, lifting weights on my own, hiking, and just staying active and trying everything!

How did you get into CrossFit? I work as a physical therapist and had a patient tell me about crossfit 3 years ago…had looked into it but never joined until BCF opened right near home. Won’t ever quit now! 🙂

How have you changed since starting Badger CrossFit? I’ve gotten much stronger and leaner. I’ve been eating healthier than ever and I’ve had very few if any issues with my chronic back and neck pain. I’ve gotten smarter about training and better with my form in key movements.

What are your goals for 2012? Where are you in terms of achieving them? My goals are really just to be the healthiest me I can be…..and to do my best every day, whatever that is for that particular day. I would love to lose that last 6 pounds but I am more interested in how my clothes fit, how I feel inside, and what I can do function-wise, as opposed to the number on the scale.

What makes Badger CrossFit unique? I think we have a great group of outgoing, down-to-earth, and health-conscious athletes who make up the core of our group. We are a very welcoming group and most athletes are interested in learning all they can, building more friendships, sharing knowledge, laughing, and living in the moment! Oh, and we’ve got our very own Custom cornhole set!

Any best BCF stories? My favorite BCF moments are Social WODs of course……lots of great laughs and stories….which make the workouts and interaction in the gym that much more fun!

What advice do you have for people just getting started? Don’t try to compete with others…..set goals for yourself and push yourself every day to meet those goals. Don’t get down if something sets you back. Just keep putting in the effort every day, and learning as much as possible and be proud of that. Don’t be intimidated by being a newbie. We were all in your shoes once. Be friendly, introduce yourself, ask questions, cheer others on, and before you know it you’ll be one of the gang! 🙂
