"I don't do this often…but I feel it important to share.. This has been the most difficult year of my life, which is saying something. I've struggled, and many times the struggle won out. I've gone through depression, I've sometimes had a bad attitude, I've pushed people away, I lost hope, and I lost my way. I started to devalue my health, making it unimportant- a new low for me. It wasn't until very recently that I realized everyone has a story. Everyone has pain, hurt, depression, or fear. But it's how we come out from it that makes us who we are. Today, I struggled with a hard work out…I told myself to just go lighter, that'd it'd be easier. But then I had to 'b-slap' myself and say no. I can do it. And I did. We all will lose our way at times, stumble and fall, but at those times we need to recognize it, 'b-slap' ourselves, and get back up. Life has a way of hiding your true potential, and sometimes it can be blinding. Take the blinders off. Get mad. Get strong. Get motivated. Because it's not the end, it's only the beginning of a brand new story. We may not be able to control life, or God's plan, but we can control ourselves. We can stand back up and get back to where we need to be. While I'm happy with the progress I've made, even this past month, the fight continues – everyday getting easier, but if there is one thing that I have learned in all of this: it's to keep fighting. Keep loving yourself. Keep healing. That's my preach of the day…" –Nikki, BCF athlete. #selflove #selftalk #health #wellness #progressisaprocess
