6/16 “Thursday”

Your first Member of the Month for the month of June is Ravi Birman Hometown: Mumbai, India Age: 26 Crossfitting since? 2015 A little about yourself: I work at FIS. The rest of family (Mom, Dad, Brother, Sister in law and a new nephew) is in India. I played soccer and basketball in high school and college back in India, but it’s not even close to what college sports are like in the US. What was your background before you started CrossFit? I didn't really have a weightlifting background. I did a few bicep curls here and there, but mostly, I played soccer and basketball. How did you get into CrossFit? When I moved to Madison I was looking for a basketball gym nearby, but somehow, when I Google-searched for one, Crossfit Connex came up. I had no idea what Crossfit was, but I assumed that they would have a basket ball hoop. When I went there, they asked me, “Have you done CrossFit before?” I said “Yes”, but I was lying. I did my 1st WOD that day and was hooked. Later I told them the truth though and then they made me do the elementary class :(. Lol. What is your favorite WOD or movement? My ideal workout would be lots of clean & jerks, a mile of running, 100m overhead plate lunges and T2B. Least favorite? Pull-ups and new least favorite is Assault bike. What makes Badger CrossFit unique? When I walked in, I came to know that my TO-BE coach is a 4 times Regional’s athlete. I was blown away and was also super excited to know that. Another amazing thing is that I never saw so many great, strong and kind-hearted athletes under one roof. What time do you WOD? I’ve tried all the classes. My schedule changes almost every other week. What advice do you have for people first getting started? If you are already here then this must be for a reason. Just give your heart to this sport for a little while and see what happens. #wauwatosa #milwaukee #milwaukeegym #tosagym #functionalfitness #crossfit #community #badgerbuilt
