This week we check in with a 5am regular, Sean Baldwin! — Crossfitting since: Fall 2015. — A little about yourself: I grew up and lived most of my life in Hartford, WI. From there, I went to college at UW La Crosse and obtained a bachelors degree in accounting. I am now a CPA working for the public accounting firm CLA. When I’m not working I enjoy working out (obviously) and pretty much any other activity that is hands on and doesn’t require me to sit behind a computer screen. — How did you get into CrossFit? My best friend had been doing CrossFit for about 2 years and would not shut up about it so I decided to tag along one day to see what all the hype was about. I thought I was in good enough shape and would fit right in with everyone, I have never been more wrong. It ended up being some crazy hero wod and I felt like I dying about a minute and 30 seconds into it. I was embarrassed and never wanted to feel so out of shape again so I joined the next day. — How has CrossFit changed you outside the gym? Outside of the the gym, CrossFit has changed my lifestyle most of all. I put more focus on getting a full 8 hours of sleep, I have improved my diet, and cut out a host of other bad habits that were taking a toll on my progress in the gym. CrossFit has also done wonders for my mental health. Doing something like CrossFit that challenges me everyday helps me to break up the routine of everyday life and allows me to have a higher level of focus throughout the day. — What makes Badger CrossFit unique? Obviously the community at Badger makes it the most unique, shoutout to the 5am crew! I would also say the coaching at Badger makes it unique as well. Form and proper technique are at the forefront of every class and there is a personal/individual connection made between the members and coaches. Even when class sizes get into the 30+ range, the coaches are able to keep the class moving and provide individual feedback. — Advice for people just getting started: Just sign up.
