Resolve to focus in 2018

I’ve been doing CrossFit for 7 years and have never been able to do a pull-up. It wasn’t that I was completely incapable. I just blanketed my energy over all movements. It wasn’t until I dedicated 15 minutes a day, every day, for 30 days that I was able to do a pull-up. Why? Because I focused my effort.

It’s the same thing as watching my son with a magnify glass. Hanging the glass over a wide area distributes the light evenly but channeling it at an angle in a narrow, intensified effort produces fire.

So as you think about what you will “resolve” to do in 2018, set your sights on goals with concentrated effort instead of blanketed statements.
Narrow down “I’m going to get to the gym more” to “I’m going to get to CrossFit’s 4:30p class 4 times a week.”
Narrow down “I’m going to eat healthier” to “I’m going to concentrate on my micro and macro nutrients and track daily.”
Narrow down “I’m going to be more financially responsible” to “I’m going to put away $50 from every paycheck and cancel cable.”
When we better set up our goals in a concentrated effort, it’s easier to knock them down.
