This week we check in with a Function regular, Tom Danneman! — Functioning since: November 2016 — A little about yourself: I'm an Art Director for a media company, and have been for almost 20 years. I have two children (a daughter that's 12, and a son that's 8). My favorite place to travel to is Montana. Lots of great hiking, fishing, kayaking, and other outdoor fun to be had there. — How did you get into Function? I was referred to Function by a friend. I wanted to get more out of my workouts. Before Function, I was running and doing some weights at home, but I felt like I was hitting a wall and not progressing like I wanted to. — How has Function changed you outside the gym? I feel like I'm getting a great workout. I've noticed that I feel much more energetic overall, and I've been sleeping much better. Besides that, I think I've actually put on some muscle! — What makes Badger CrossFit unique? I think it's the personal attention you receive. I also like how other gym members sometimes encourage you and cheer you on during your workout. It helps you stay motivated, and it makes it a lot more fun! Everybody at Badger has been extremely friendly and helpful. — Advice for people just getting started: I'm not a morning person at all, so it was difficult at times for me to get out of bed and go workout at 6 a.m. At the same time, it frees up my evenings, which I've enjoyed. I guess my advice is to stick with it even if it's hard to get motivated. I feel like by the time I get to the gym, I hardly remember that it's early morning, and I should be all snug in my bed. One other thing that I think really benefits me is the knowledge that I'll be getting a solid workout every time I go to the gym. That is something that I wasn't getting from my home workouts.
