This week we check in with one of our supermoms, Rose Kolupar! — Crossfitting since: 2013 — A little about yourself: As a child, I was the girl placed WAY in the outfield, choreographing dances, running away from butterflies, and praying that nobody tried to throw or hit the ball in my direction. I was also the kid who accidentally scored points for the other team in basketball. I think you get the picture. When I was 17, I was hit and run over by a pickup truck near my home in Portland, Oregon. After weeks of bed rest and a lot of therapy, I packed my bags and moved to Wisconsin to go to college. Ten years later, I have my roots here with my husband Trevor, our son Finn (1), and our fur babies Georgia and Zoe. — How did you get into CrossFit? I was teaching classes at the WAC, enjoying a great social life, but feeling like I wasn't reaching my fitness potential. One of my girlfriends joined a CrossFit gym, did the Paleo thing, and lost a bunch of weight. She got me to try it out, promising I'd look better in my wedding dress, and like the rest of these schmucks, I got hooked! — How has CrossFit changed you outside the gym? I find myself caring less about being skinny and more about feeling strong. I am more confident and secretly love when people ask me to help lift heavy things. — What makes Badger CrossFit unique? Here at Badger, everyone is an athlete! That alone is pretty awesome. I also love that we have such an amazing and supportive environment here, whether we're celebrating a PR or just finishing a difficult workout. Our coaches are fun, helpful, and care about helping us reach our goals. — Advice for people just getting started: Stick it out. It's going to hurt at first, but pretty soon you'll learn to love that burn! And remember that anything can be scaled to accommodate an injury, life stage, or mood. I've been at this almost five years and often still need to scale. This community is truly one of the best! @rose.kolupar
