This week we catch up with one of our Medical Student rockstars, Nick Placone — Crossfitting since: 2013ish — A little about yourself: The details of my life are quite inconsequential. My childhood was typical, summers in Rangoon, luge lessons….I actually do take some things seriously. I am finishing up my 3rd year at Medical College of Wisconsin, and will be applying to residency in a few months hoping to eventually pursue gastroenterology. I enjoy exercising. Well, a lot of times I don't, but I get cranky when I don't exercise so I keep doing it. In 2014, I exercised so fast that they let me exercise in front of a lot of people at the SoCal Regionals. But that was back when people weren't very good at exercising, and twice as many exercisers got to go to regionals. Now people are really really good at fitness so I am just a really really above average exerciser. I tried my darndest to make it back to regionals the last two years but just missed it by a couple spots! So, like every good underdog story I decided to give up and concentrate on things that might actually benefit my future, like finishing school. Shoot, sorry, I forgot we were talking about things I take seriously. Ok, well I am marrying my high school sweetheart in May of this year. Let's see, what else. Oh yea, vaccines! How is not vaccinating your kids really still a thing? Oh, Harambe, yea man, that was terrible. Let's see, I take my peanut butter and jelly about as serious as most crossfitters take their supplements and paleo diets. I consider myself quite in-tune with the hip hop community; shout out to mah boys Slim and Pac. I surfed when I lived in San Diego, and skied when I lived in Northern California, but I haven't been able to find an ocean or mountains in Wisconsin, let me know if you guys know of any. I like being outside. I think Pete Rose should be allowed in the Hall of Fame and Barry Bonds should not. I think that college football is boring to watch because I don't like missed tackles and overthrown passes. I think pitcher duels are more exciting than 10 run shootouts. #membermonday #motivation #hardwork #badgercrossfit #badgerbuilt #wauwatosa @nick_placone @jstdeweyit
