This week we catch up with one of our photographer gurus and avid noon participant, Kathleen Stogin — Crossfitting since: Summer 2015 A little about yourself: Welp, I guess the obvious is that I'm a photographer — I shoot mostly weddings, engagements, and family sessions, but I love taking on totally unrelated projects (like the Crossfit Open!) when I have some spare time. I also love shooting guns, riding motorcycles, dogs, urban gardening, woodworking, drawing, and anything active, really. I'm a junkie for learning new skills… just a sucker for a good steep learning curve — How did you get into CrossFit? I spent most of my high school years competing internationally in fencing tournaments, and ended up getting picked up by Penn State. After I left, I really missed that athletic outlet and sense of team, which an average fitness routine doesn't match. My dad was a collegiate gymnast and my grandfather was a bodybuilder, so I wondered for a long time if I might have some in my blood. Once I finally got bored enough with the globo gym atmosphere, I plugged my nose and drank the kool-aid. I was hooked right away — How has CrossFit changed you outside the gym? It definitely builds confidence, and now I've got so many awesome friendships that came as a direct result of this community. Physically, it's also transformed me. You get lots of comments on your build, and I've had total strangers pull me aside and ask if I do Crossfit, which I think is hilarious — What makes Badger CrossFit unique? The top-notch facility, the best coaches, and it's gotta be the people. Before I had even made friends, people reached out and supported me with letters, candy, and care packages when my fiancé deployed. That was the week I realized this community is really something special. I might be biased, but I think we have the best dogs, too — Advice for people just getting started: Start to see your body for the machine that it is. The intensity can hurt, but remember that it's your body doing what it does best…being awesome. #membermonday #motivation #fitness #community #results #badgerbuilt #badgercrossft #crossfit #womenwholift #fitchicks #fitfam @kathleenstogin
