This week we check in with a Noon regular, Ingrid Zitzer! — Crossfitting since: February 2012 — A little about yourself: I am a mom of 3 kids ages 17, 13 & 7. My 13 year old daughter, Inga also has been doing CrossFit for the last 4 years. My husband and I own a local skateboard shop in the village of Wauwatosa. Come visit us at Phase 2! I also work part time as the personal shopping lead at Lululemon Third Ward. I am a very passionate person that loves the competitive nature of CrossFit and have always liked to push myself outside of the norm. Outside of the gym I love to hang out with family & friends, see live music(alternative/punk junkie), write(journalism major) and do anything that involves being active. — How did you get into CrossFit? I was talking to a friend about competitive sports, and how I missed that feeling. I was a competitive sprinter(200m & 400m) and snowboarder. She mentioned CrossFit, and how she had just started and loved it. I was familiar with it, as a friend I knew was doing it competitively in Chicago. I was never a 'gym' girl and never lifted a weight in my life. I signed myself up the following month after looking a bit more into it, and the rest is history. — How has CrossFit changed you outside the gym? I am 110% sold on the "Fit Sweat life", and there is no going back. While I have always been an active person, I can't say I was as healthy outside my activity. I definitely think more about what I eat and drink. I am a goal setter inside and outside of the gym. I am constantly working on bettering myself both physically & mentally. It has definitely made me a better person. — What makes Badger CrossFit unique? Cliche, but the PEOPLE!!!! I have met so many people at Badger that have become my forever friends. I know that everyone says that, but its true. It is so much more than a gym, it is a place that you sweat with people that have like minded personalities. It is impossible to not become friends outside the gym! I look forward to my time at Badger, and constantly want to better myself as there is always room for improvement. — Advice for people just getting started: Slow down. You don't see improvement overnight, but over time!
