21 Aug /0 Comments/Featured Athlete, Featured Athlete, Testimonial Member Monday: Barb Fagan View this post on Instagram This week we check in with one of our Function rockstars, Barb Fagan! — Functioning since: December 2016. — A little about yourself: Current dog mom of a 140# Great Dane, Loaki (yes, she has been in the gym!) Have worked for thirty years at Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin in cardiac rehabilitation and workforce health helping others walk through their own health and fitness journeys. It’s wonderful to have your passion be your vocation! I love everything that involves being active, and have completed 15 Ironman triathlons, competed in Kona, ran over 70 marathons and ultra’s and completed a 100 mile trail run…to say I like endurance sports is an understatement. Willing to try anything at least once…which is probably why I jumped out of an airplane. Mostly all that I do and enjoy is central to all of the wonderful friends I get to do all these fun things with, and CrossFit is no exception. — How did you get into Function? Honestly I would see people in Tosa wearing Badger CrossFit gear (which I loved) and I thought “hey, that would be really kewl to do." I was a bit apprehensive as people would tell me I was going to get hurt. Heck, I get hurt more cycling and running than I have at the gym. Anyway, I wanted to improve my strength because all my focus had been on cardiovascular endurance and I knew if I could get stronger I could be a better runner and triathlete. Badger CrossFit was the perfect place to go and function the perfect place to start! — How has Function changed you outside the gym? Not sure I have changed rather, Function has enhanced my life for the better. A couple things, I have gotten much stronger which I know helped me rehab more quickly from a recent bike crash and broken collar bone. Function combined with PT got me back faster than had I only done PT. Although I knew a few folks already working out at Badger, I have a whole new community of friends which I see outside the gym as well. — What makes Badger CrossFit unique? The people! It’s truly a community of like-minded individuals that encourage each other to be successful and healthy. A post shared by Badger CrossFit (@badgercrossfit) on Aug 21, 2017 at 6:08pm PDT
