This week we check in with one of our 6am regulars, Andy Fischer! — Crossfitting since: January 2014 — A little about yourself: I’m 33 years old and live in Wauwatosa with my wife and 2 kids. I grew up in Menomonee Falls and lived on Brady Street for 5 years before my wife and I decided to settle down a little bit and move to Wauwatosa. My favorite things in life are family, friends, holidays, Sundays, pale ales, pinot noir, cookies, ice cream, meatballs, meatloaf and anything Wisconsin sports related. Lastly, the first weekend in June I grow a mustache for an annual fishing trip. — How did you get into CrossFit? My neighbors, Luke and Jenny (old BCF members), and I were talking about working out and they explained how they went to Badger CrossFit and loved it. I was hesitant at first but decided to check it out because I was so sick of my regular gym routine. I attended a free Saturday morning class and it was terrible in a great way. I showed up, Tyler told me what to do, I was challenged, I was sweaty, I was sore and I couldn’t wait to try it again. The thought of showing up for one hour and not having to plan or program my own workout was so appealing. Combine that with the fact that each workout is different, challenging and competitive and I was hooked! — How has CrossFit changed you outside the gym? CrossFit has been a great stress reliever for me. I’m generally just happier because I spend an hour each day not worrying as much about other things happening in my life. I'm sure my wife really appreciates this. I also try to foam roll each night with a glass of wine. Before CrossFit I would just try to have a glass of wine. — What makes Badger CrossFit unique? I’ve been to a handful of other boxes around the country and Badger’s facilities and coaches are unlike any other. The entire setup from the equipment, the layout, the great coaching and the flexible class times are something I haven’t experienced anywhere else. We are very lucky. The people are wonderful, too. I’ve made so many friends at Badger and I look forward to seeing them in class. That definitely wasn’t the case with other gyms I’ve belonged to. — Advice for people just getting started:
