Let’s talk about the least sexy part of reaching any goal.
-Doing the thing over and over again, day in and day out, for a loooong time.
That’s what it takes to reach your goals. How long are you willing to do the same thing, no matter how boring, monotonous, or simple it is, to get to where you want to go?
Here’s the thing-we all say we want to do it. We all say we can.
If you could embrace the monotony, and stick to those daily habits consistently for however long it takes, you’d be where you want to be.
If you didn’t let the discomfort or inconvenience of waking up at the same time every day stop you from getting up and getting some movement in, you’d likely look the way you want to look.
If you didn’t let the discomfort of saying “no thank you” to something you don’t actually want instead of fearing being rude, you’d likely feel how you want to feel.
Here are 3 things you can do to help you stay consistent in reaching your goals.
01. Embrace Monotony
Human beings thrive on structure. Our bodies need routine in order to maintain a healthy circadian rhythm, and perform optimally.
02. Have a Set Wake-Up Time
The routine goes deeper when you can get your body into the routine of rising at the same time every day. This will start to shift the time you start to wind down and you’ll get tired earlier.
03. Say “No” More Often
When you say “yes” to things reluctantly, or to things that aren’t actually aligned with your goals, you lose integrity with yourself. When you say “no” to these things, you make the conscious decision to align yourself with your goals.
There’s power in consistency. That’s because there’s power in holding integrity with yourself.
When you stay true to you, your goals, and what you want out of your life, you are empowered by your choices. Stick with these 3 rules, and you’ll find yourself one step closer to your goals each day.
