15.5, and the Open is officially over! Congrats to each and every one of you guys!

The Open has officially come to an end at BCF! I want to thank all the athletes, volunteers, judges, people that just came to hang out and cheer others on. You all define what BCF is about. You also made it an incredible experience this year! It was the most fun and most athletes we ever had signed up (75). Also, to our vendors Valentine Coffee Co., Urban Caveman, Strong Coffee Co., and lululemon athletica – Third Ward. Thank you for your support and generosity of fueling us and equipping us!

With the ending of the Open comes new beginnings at BCF! We have some exciting things in the pipeline for BCF this next month, leading up to summer. We MIGHT make the Regionals as a team (we will see officially by end of next seek), we start new strength/skill cycles, we will be having a gym-wide goal meeting session, we are expanding to behind the tarp for more space, the building is getting a face-lift inside and out, we are expanding our offerings, coaching, classes, equipment, business processes, member upgrades and much much more!

But, as great as all these things are, nothing is more important than bringing about our vision and mission as a gym…

I’ve said this many times, but the Open doesn’t define you as a person. It gives you an outlet to showcase your fitness, to be with our great community of people, and to push your physical and mental limits that you wouldn’t have other wise. We saw first muscle-ups, clean PRs, multiple C2B pullups, first pukies after 15.5 yesterday… the list goes on and on.

And it’s not only that we got to achieve great physical feats, but that we got to share them with each other. There really is no point in doing great things unless you get to share them with your coaches, your family, your gym community, your friends, your workout buddies, whomever. Because of these last 5 weeks, we united as a gym community. We bonded, we got to know other people we wouldn’t have otherwise, we helped each other forge elite fitness.

Some say CrossFit is a cult only because they do not understand that we have passion – and it runs deep when you are with people you love and doing things you enjoy. I say it’s a family. Badger CrossFit is a family of fitness enthusiasts. We want to forge the world’s most effective health and fitness training, which prepares each athlete for any physical task, including the unknown and the unknowable. Our mission is to build a healthy, strong and supportive community which strives for the true essence of fitness in a results-based and peer-driven atmosphere.

I feel the Open has brought about our vision and mission nicely. And I cannot be more proud of each and every one of you for helping drive this gym to what it is becoming.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart,
