This picture is from Balanced Bites, who puts our a 21 Day Sugar Detox challenge, which we are currently doing. Are you interested in participating? Then hop in now before it’s too late! Please know this — it’s very tough. Sugar is a drug. Sugar is addictive. Sugar is damaging. But eliminating it will yield many benefits beyond just “losing fat.” You will gain energy back, control of your attitude, your fatigue will diminish — life will feel happier!

Couple of notes about the challenge…

  1. As a CrossFitter, eating starches is crucial so you do go hypoglycemic (low blood sugar). Some of you will still need to eat sweet potatoes while on this challenge, even though it’s on the “NO” list.
  2. Only 2 fruits are allowed – green apple and a greenish banana. Only choose 1 of these per day. Fruit is off limits otherwise. Get your carbs from rice, oats, quinoa, barley, buckwheat, and other non-flour sources.
  3. Don’t cheat. Eliminate the drug that sugar can be on your brain and body. Seriously, don’t.
  4. Reap the benefits if you follow the rules. Look at her website balancedbites.com for much, much more!

Fitness and Performance:
Push Press, Push Jerk, Deadlift

Fitness: Double-KB Swing, Slam balls, Barbell Squat Jumps, Mountain Climbers
Performance: Hang power clean, slam ball, Front Squat, Airdyne sprints

FYI, if you’re CrossFitting or working out more than 5 days a week, or CrossFitting and have an extremely active lifestyle/job, you will have to make some tweaks. If you have questions about this, ask Tyler, Adam, or Sara for insight. Cutting out sugar is going to benefit you no matter what, but you’ll need keep the oats, potatoes, sweet potatoes, or rice to meet your caloric needs.
