This week we catch up with long time member Jen Ede! — Crossfitting since: Believe it or not, I've been a member since Oct. 2013–but you've seen me consistently since the Whole Life Challenge kicked off in Sept. 2016 — A little about yourself: Haha–I'm the one at the gym who tries to "out-weird" everybody else with my outfits. I like to wear "space pants" with an intergalactic cats tank, a heavy metal beer t-shirt from a Seattle brewery called Holy Mountain with some jacked up socks that say "BEER" on them, that sort of thing. I also stubbornly refuse to upgrade to lifters from AllStars. But really, up until recently, I was the publisher of Edible Milwaukee. Now I'm still the editor of two magazines. In a month, I'll be moving to join my boyfriend in Seattle and start my life's next chapter. Not sure who I'll "be" there, but I want it to be related to what I do at my day job–healthcare communications. That way I can take forward the nutrition and fitness lessons I've learned at BCF and from Tyler, too
— How did you get into CrossFit? I don't really remember exactly how, but I was pretty heavily Paleo for a few years–I'm sure I backed into it from there
— How has CrossFit changed you outside the gym? I've had a lot of stress (good and not so good) this past year. I sold a business, went through several production cycles with two magazines, ones deadlines on top of the other, and now, I'm moving across the country. Working with Tyler on nutrition and coming consistently to the gym helped me through the worst of those demands, and I honestly think I would've been curled up rocking in a corner if BCF and the friends I've met there hadn't been my cornerstone
— What makes Badger CrossFit unique? The answer to this question is, 100%, the vibe. It is impossible not to feel good when you walk in through the doors. Other gym atmospheres can feel intimidating, or sometimes, even worse, unwelcoming, but BCF has this way of making you feel like you belong there. The strong community is something I will miss so much and will look for wherever I end up in Seattle
